Specialist depth in hydronic heating, full-service plumbing across new construction and renovation, and the kind of accountability that only comes from sixty years of working with the same regional builders, homeowners, and inspectors.

Established in 1966 by Franz Kastl and Paul Zuch, Kastl & Zuch Plumbing & Heating has served the Waterloo Region and surrounding area for more than sixty years. In the 1960s, Franz and Paul saw a gap: the German contractors building Kitchener and Waterloo needed a shop that spoke the same trade language and brought the same technical standards from the old country.

By the early seventies the company had grown into one of the region's major plumbing and heating contractors. We have stayed in roughly the same place ever since: a focused, family-run mechanical company doing residential and light commercial work for the K-W region.

Today Kastl & Zuch is a full-service plumbing and hydronic heating shop. New home construction, renovation work, and direct service all run through the same team. You will find our licensed plumbing and gas technicians knowledgeable, professional, and fully dedicated to customer service. We buy quality fixtures and faucets from leading manufacturers and offer installation and service at competitive pricing.

Timeline

Sixty years, one specialty.

  1. 1966

    Founded in Waterloo

    Franz Kastl and Paul Zuch start the company to serve the German contractors building post-war Kitchener-Waterloo.

  2. 1970s

    Regional growth

    Kastl & Zuch becomes one of the major plumbing and heating contractors in the Waterloo Region, with a focus on quality residential mechanical work.

  3. 1990s

    Hydronic specialty

    The shop deepens its focus on hydronic heating, building a reference list of installs that includes nearly every major Viessmann model sold in Ontario.

  4. 2000s

    Radiant in-floor

    Becomes a regional Uponor specialist for residential radiant in-floor heating, snow-melt driveways, and large-format custom builds.

  5. Today

    Sixty years on

    Three generations of K-W families and builders have used Kastl & Zuch. We still answer the phone at 519-884-0990, and the truck still says the same name.

What we believe

The install is the warranty.

A clean mechanical room is not aesthetic, it is functional. Properly supported piping, accessible service points, and labeled valves are how we deliver work that lasts. Our gallery is unstaged.

What we won't do

Skip permits, oversell, fake reviews.

We pull every permit, even on swaps. We will tell you when you do not need the system the brochure recommends. And we do not have a paid review pipeline. Our references are real customers, by phone, on request.

Who we work with

Homeowners, builders, renovators.

Roughly half our work is direct-to-homeowner; the rest runs through custom builders and renovation contractors. The same crew, the same standard, regardless of who signs the cheque.
